Looking for a repair shop to fix your iPhone? Don’t want to wait for a spot at the Apple store, or worried about paying more at one of Apple’s flagship shops?
An Apple Independent Repair Provider is the perfect solution—and Cell Mechanics is an Apple Independent Repair Provider. As one of the few independent repair shops certified by Apple to perform out-of-warranty repairs, we take walk-in clients, and we can fix most issues within a few hours. We have access to genuine Apple parts, Apple diagnostic tools and manuals, and more.
What Is the Apple Independent Repair Provider Program?
The Apple Independant Repair Provider Program was launched in 2019. The goal of the program is simple: To give repair providers access to genuine Apple parts, service manuals, and tools—including diagnostic tools.
This means that Apple Independent Repair Providers can offer out-of-warranty repairs on Apple products using genuine Apple parts. Cell Mechanics is an Apple Independent Repair Provider in Winnipeg—when you bring your iPhone to any of our locations, we can service it using genuine Apple parts.
The AIRP Program differs from the Apple Authorized Service Providers program in that AASPs can offer in-warranty repair service, while AIRPs can only offer out-of-warranty repairs.
Why You Should Take Your iPhone to an Apple Independent Repair Provider
Experienced and Trained Service Technicians
In order to qualify for the AIRP Program, businesses must meet a number of different qualifications. One of those qualifications is to have Apple-certified technicians performing all repairs on iPhones and other Apple products where repairs are made with certified Apple parts.
The AppleCare Hardware Certification program must be completed for a technician to become Apple-certified. The program is comprehensive, and gaining certification requires extensive knowledge and highly honed repair skills. As an AIRP, the technicians who work on your iPhone here at Cell Mechanics are all Apple-certified.
Access to Apple’s Diagnostic Tools and Software
iPhones are incredibly complex devices, and it can be difficult to determine what components are malfunctioning and what types of repairs are needed.
As an Apple Independent Repair Provider, we have access to a variety of diagnostics tools, including diagnostic software, access to Apple’s service and repair management system (Global Service Exchange), repair manuals, and more. These tools and manuals can help us quickly diagnose what’s wrong with your iPhone—and then fix it while complying with Apple’s exacting standards.
Access to Genuine Apple iPhone Parts
Apple is selective about who gets access to its parts, and Apple’s genuine parts generally work best for iPhones. Thanks to our partnership with Apple, we have access to genuine Apple parts; that means we can repair your iPhone’s screen, camera, battery, and other components using parts sourced straight from the manufacturer.
Access to genuine Apple iPhone parts doesn’t mean we’re mandated to use them—and that’s great news for you! You can choose between genuine original Apple parts and high-quality aftermarket parts when we repair your iPhone. We’ve designed our iPhone repair services to meet your needs—use genuine original Apple parts for some repairs and/or save money with aftermarket parts for others!
Out-of-Warranty Repairs
Not every problem with your iPhone will fall within Apple’s warranty. Though standard Apple warranties last for one year, its warranty does not cover a variety of common problems, like screen repairs for cracks caused by impact or items stuck in ports.
Our team offers out-of-warranty repairs; that include things that aren’t covered by your 1-year warranty or repairs that are needed after the warranty has expired. By using an Apple Independent Repair Provider like Cell Mechanics, you can get out-of-warranty repairs on your iPhone without the risk of voiding anything that’s still within your warranty.
We offer all kinds of out-of-warranty repairs, including screen repairs and replacements, battery repair and replacement, port, speaker, and button repairs and replacements, and more.
The Risks of Choosing an Unauthorized Repair Provider
Voiding Your Warranty
The Apple Independent Repair Provider program is one Apple repair program—Apple Authorized Service Providers fall under another, as do Apple Stores (though they are, of course, not independent repair shops). Working with any of these three repair programs means you’re working with technicians who are certified to provide repairs by Apple, using the highest quality original parts.
Not everyone meets the rigorous standards set by Apple. When you visit an independent repair shop that is not certified under one of the Apple repair programs, you’re putting your phone at risk. Low-quality repairs can void your warranty.
When you visit an AIRP like Cell Mechanics for out-of-warranty fixes like cracked screens, you can rest assured that all of your in-warranty parts will remain intact. Additionally, the Limited Lifetime Warranty we offer on most repairs gives our customers an added layer of protection.
Compromising Your Device’s Security
Aside from meeting program requirements like having an Apple-certified technician to handle any iPhone repairs, Apple requires Independent Repair Providers to prove that they run a legitimate business.
When working with a provider that is not authorized by Apple to perform repairs, it’s important to ask why it hasn’t met the program’s qualifications. If it hasn’t met the standards to get Apple-certified technicians, it may do damage to your device when repairing it. Worse yet, shady repair shops may even load malware onto your phone. This is rare but it’s worth considering—working with certified professionals is always a safer bet.
